“My closest friends, family members, and former law partner are all members of the LGBTQ community, which makes the fight to protect LGBTQ rights very personal for me. Throughout my career both in the courtroom and in the State Senate, I have been an advocate for the protection of constitutional and individual rights for all Georgians, as found under the Georgia Constitution. I hope to earn the Georgia LGBTQ community’s support because I support, love, and value them, and believe that they deserve the same rights as every other Georgia citizen. Our Georgia Supreme Court is our last line of defense against attacks on our fundamental rights guaranteed under the Georgia Constitution, and Georgians need the people on that court to have their back.”
“Members of Georgia’s LGBTQ community and their allies should support my candidacy because I believe the courts must be places of fairness, dignity, and equal justice for everyone. Throughout my legal career, I have represented everyday people in high-stakes situations and worked to ensure that those without power or privilege still have a voice and a fair opportunity to be heard. I understand that public trust in the courts depends on people believing they will be treated respectfully and that the law will be applied evenly, regardless of who they are. My commitment is to a judiciary that is independent, faithful to the Constitution, and accessible to all Georgians. I would approach the role with integrity, humility, and a deep respect for the dignity of every person who comes before the court.”
“I am proud to earn the support of Georgia Equality and to stand with Georgia’s LGBTQ community no matter how hard the fight before us. I am outraged by the unjust and hateful discrimination that has been waged against LGBTQ Georgians, as Republicans weaponize attacks to distract from their failures to address issues of healthcare and affordability in our state. I won’t stand for it. As governor, my highest priority will be to protect Georgians’ safety and their rights and bring real solutions to the issues that LGBTQ community and all working families face every day.”
“I have taken the ‘tough’ votes and given the ‘tough’ speeches. I put ‘tough’ in scare quotes because I believe strongly that the positions I’ve taken do not actually carry political cost *if* they are taken with skill and conviction, which I have tried to do. I’m unafraid of cheap political attacksand will fight for the rights, safety, and overall well being of vulnerable people as if they are my own family.
“I am a lifelong supporter of equal rights, and I have consistently stood against harmful, hateful, and discriminatory legislation targeting the LGBTQ community. As Attorney General, I will make sure that every Georgian is equal under the law and will stop the constant barrage of far-right motivated unconstitutional attacks through the courts.”
“Every eligible Georgia voter deserves to have their vote counted and their voice heard regardless of who they love or how they identify. As Secretary of State, my job is to protect that right. The LGBTQ community has too often been on the receiving end of federal and statewide efforts to limit rights, restrict freedoms, and silence voices. It’s unacceptable.”
“For the past 36 years, I have a consistent record of fighting for every worker. Every worker deserves dignity, respect and an equal shot at every opportunity – no exceptions! I’ll continue that fight for safe workplaces, equal opportunity and a Labor Department that works for all working people and is not afraid to enforce the law!”
“Every resident deserves to be treated with respect, fairness and dignity under the law. My focus is on delivering results that improve people’s lives, including better infrastructure, stronger schools, and access to healthcare. I will listen to all my constituents, stand for fair treatment, and work to ensure that no one is left out of the opportunities our region is creating.”

“My district in Gwinnett is incredibly diverse, and the LGBTQ residents here are no exception. As a nonbinary trans woman, my concerns are the same as my neighbors. Te obvious attack on marginalized populations at both the state and federal level and ever-increasing cost of living are large issues impacting my district, but “smaller” issues such as traffic and having affordable access to healthcare ae important as well.”
“Since 2014, I’ve trained and mobilized thousands of volunteers to flip our state and work to change our state politics. And, I’ve served as a State Representative for 4 years now. In that time, I also was deputy whip helping build a defense strategy that resulted in us stopping 90% of bad bills this legisative session and protecting countless Georgians including LGTBQ Georgians. I’m the only candidate in this race with that kind of experience making me ready to protect our communities on day one. “
“LGBTQ voters should support me because I believe, without exception, that everyone has the right to be exactly who they are. I do not support any effort, by government or society, to control, exclude, or discriminate against people for their identity.
I believe everyone deserves access to the resources they need and to be treated with equal dignity and respect. I strongly support inclusivity and believe our communities are stronger when everyone belongs.
I’ve shown up for this work. I attended Georgia Senate study committees on transgender athletes, where experts and families spoke out against a ban and I was deeply disappointed when the state chose to ignore them.”
“As a triple minority-my father is Iranian, my mother is Venezuelan, and I am a woman-I understand the pressures and discrimination that individuals and communities face based on their identity. Also, both of my communities of origin have been made targets, as has the LGBTQIA+ community, under this current federal administration. I understand the fear and frustration. As the only attorney in this race, I am uniquely equipped to use the power of the law to protect our communities and to fight against the regressive policies and aggressive tactics that are being deployed against us.”
“I’m an advocate for all people. I listen, I show up, and I fight to make sure every voice in our community is heard and respected. My commitment is simple: fairness, opportunity, and results for everyone-not just a few.”
“I have been a lifelong supporter of LGBTQ rights and am proud to be an ally. In other states I have lived in, I have voted for protections, and I know Georgia can do better. When I wear my Free Mom Hugs shirts, I mean it! As a mom and community servant, I care deeply about the needs and rights of our LGBTQ kids, teens and adults, and I pledge to fight for their rights and needs as any mom would for her own child.”

“Voters should support my candidacy because I am committed to building trust through listening, transparency, and consistent engagement. I believe strong communities are built when people feel respected and included, and I will work to ensure that every voice in our district is heard and valued.”
“LGBTQ voters should support my candidacy for the same reasons I hope all voters will: I will be a relentless and passionate advocate for all of the people I represent. Just as I have in my career as a voting rights leader, immigration advocate, and litigator, I will stand up for our rights at the State Capitol, working overtime to extend our paltry legal protections for LGBTQ people and resist efforts to enshrine additional discrimination in our laws. I look forward to working with and learning from LGBTQ lawmakers and, beyond the legislative session, helping elect more of them to office. “
“LGBTQ+ voters in Georgia should support my candidacy because I will fight for the LGBTQ+ community as an ally in and out of office. I support sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression as protected classes; a comprehensive state-level civil rights act; abortion access; and equal rights for all. I will oppose and publicly fight back against anti-trans laws being brought forward in Georgia (whether that’s bills on library censorship, bills removing gender-affirming care from the state health benefit plan, or others).”
“Because I believe that everyone should have equal rights and that no child or adult should live in fear, feel threatened, or feel singled out simply because they are part of the LGBTQ community.”

“I truly believe in representing every person in my district, no matter their sexual orientation or gender identity.”
“Throughout my career as a nonprofit lobbyist and then in my four terms as a legislator, I have voted consistently to protect [LGBTQ] rights. “
“I believe that all people have the full right to bodily autonomy, and that queer and trans people deserve to live their lives safely and comfortably as their full selves. In office, I will prioritize not only preventing harmful anti-LGBTQ bills such as book bans, attacks on trans children in schools and sports, and more, but also standing up proactively to expand LGBTQ rights in the state. I introduced a Georgia Medicare for All bill that includes trans people as well as gender-affirming care. We need leadership who will organize our communities to engage and fight for LGBTQ rights. We need to empower our communities and be there talking to the people all the time, which is what I have down after hosting 6 town halls and nearly a dozen meet and greets since being elected. I intend to be an organizer in office because that is what we need to win this fight – the power of the people.”
“I always have and always will fight against extremist policies that could harm or exclude the LGBTQ+ community. Additionally, I will continue to work towards broader civil rights protections for all.”
“I have always been a public and loud supporter of the LGBTQ+ community. The LGBTQ+ community can always count on me to fight against hateful legislation and to continue to push for compreensive civil rights legislation. I will never back down from a fight against discrimination.”

“As a married Gay Black male I have the lived experience here in Georgia, I’ve seen firsthand the impact of HIV/AIDS, the targeting of Trans people, Particularly black trans women. I will do everything in my power to fight for both at the State House. “

“As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I understand that the challenges we’re facing are not theoretical, they’re personal. I’ve been involved in this work long before this campaign, from serving on Mayor Dickens’ LGBTQ Advisory Board to supporting organizations like Lost-n-Found Youth, Georgia Safe Schools, TransParent, and others. I will be a consistent voice for equality, including protecting access to healthcare, opposing discrimination, and pushing back against efforts to target LGBTQ+ people, especially transgender Georgians. Just as importantly, I will show up, listen, and lead with the understanding that representation is about both lived experience and a willingness to fight for others. “
“I have never wavered in my belief that all people deserve to have their lived experiences validated and their rights as humans preserved and protected. I am not new to being an ally of the LGBTQ community. My work as a maternal health advocate has always been inclusive and respectful of all people. I will not dictate to you what the needs of the LGBTQ community are. My role as a legislator is to listen to you, give you the opportunity to shape policy, have your voices heard in the State House, and stand with you during times of joy and difficulty. I am accessible, transparent, and honest. Having lived and worked as an advocate in Massachusetts for eight years, I understand how to build diverse, progressive coalitions and write policy that will preserve your rights.”

“As the Georgia State Director of HRC, I rebuilt the organizations infrastructure to be a valuable partner in defeating 37 anti-LGBT+ bills, flipping state legislative seats for proequality candidates and working with partners, like Georgia Equality, to completely flip the narrative on attacks upon transgender equality. If elected, I would be the first openly LGBTQ+ person to represent the most LGBTQ+ per capita district and the first nonbinary trans person elected to a State legislature in the South. “
“I support this community. I do not judge individuals and as a Christian, I love all of God’s children. I will advocate for every constituent regardless of the sexual identity.”
“For the last 16 years I have consistently supported this community in public as a legislator and in private and will continue to do so. My record and my words support such.”
“I come from a community that has historically been marginalized, and one of my goals is to support and advocate for all marginalized groups, including LGBTQ+ neighbors in Georgia House District 96. I will oppose discriminatory laws, advocate for expanded protections against discrimination, ensure schools and workplaces are safe for LGBTQ+ individuals, and promote access to affirming healthcare, including gender-affirming treatments. “
“I will always stand for the rights of LGBTQIA+ Georgians, and I am prepared to be vocal in demanding that my colleagues do the same. We are starting to see an alarming pattern:
Democratic leaders throwing trans kids under the bus and claiming that being pro-equality is a losing position. I firmly reject this notion and will never compromise my commitment to protecting the rights of all Georgians. I have close friends who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and nonbinary, and one reason I am in this work is to protect their rights and their futures. Ultimately, I believe LGBTQIA+ voters should support my candidacy because I have a strong track record of advocating for equality and because I am the only candidate in this race who will unequivocally stand for the rights of trans and nonbinary Georgians.”

“The foundation of my campaign is ensuring access, opportunity, respect, and representation for all people, regardless of background, sexual orientation, gender identity, or other characteristics. Diversity strengthens our community and our state, and Georgians deserve leaders who will actively fight for their rights. For our lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender friends and neighbors, I am committed to listening, advocating, and advancing policies that protect LGBTQIA+ individuals and ensure they can live safely, openly, and with dignity—both in my district and across Georgia.”
“I believe that we are a government of the people. “Of the people”, needs the voices of every-one, and I want to advocate for all. I believe that the right spends a lot of resources restricting the access of LGBTQIA. All I want to do is to make sure they have the access to the same resources that all Americans do.”
“I believe that lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender voters should support my candidacy because of my emphatic support of a state-level version of the Equality Act to protect our family in the LGBT+ community across the state from discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity in the areas of employment, housing, public education, credit, public transportation, and public accommodations. Furthermore, I support repealing bans and restrictions on gender affirming care for our transgender neighbors. Additionally, many of my economic proposals would disproportionately benefit LGBT+ folk across Georgia because our LGBT+ neighbors disproportionately experience low wages, housing insecurity, higher poverty rates, and more obstacles to building wealth.”

“I am LGBTQ+ and have been fighting for our rights since the 1980’s.”

“First, I am a part of this community and representation matters, but I have also been advocating for this community for a long time. I will use my position in the state legislature to not only continue my advocacy, but to pass legislation to protect and expand the rights of the LGBTQ+ community”

“I’m running to bring real solutions for real people to Valdosta and help build a community of acceptance in rural Georgia. Valdosta deserves a fighter who will challenge systems and speak up against discrimination and attempts to oppress communities. I’m not afraid to challenge those systems of power. I will always serve for and with the people of this district.”
